Fall Is Fast Approaching: How’s Your Pool Looking After The Summer Fun?

A pool with travertine pool tiles after pool renovation my Morton Pool Solutions

It’s been a brutally hot summer, but hopefully that hasn’t slowed you down when it comes to enjoying your pool and backyard area.

Whether you call Plano, Allen, Fairview, Rowlett or anywhere else in the North Dallas metroplex home, summer is a source of endless memories in your backyard & in your inground swimming pool.

Despite temperatures feeling otherwise, summertime is winding down and schools will be back in session soon, if not already.

While your fun-filled summer in your pool meant another season of wonderful moments, it could also mean your pool might not be in as great shape as it was before summer kicked off this year.

Wear and tear is perfectly normal and is a sign that you’ve been making good use of your pool, so don’t get too worried about it.

However there could be signs that your pool may need some extra attention this fall.

Ignoring those signs or not having a local pool professional take a look for you might mean that your pool could slip into poorer condition – leading to bigger problems down the road.

To help you out, below are some common things you can keep an eye out for as we transition into fall in 2025.

Follow Up On Signs Of Wear & Tear

If you notice any advanced signs of wear and tear during the summer, be sure to follow up on those and see if they’ve gotten any worse.

Odds are good that if your pool had some heavy use this summer, those signs of wear and tear could have degraded even more than expected, so be sure to follow up on those this fall.

Look For Stains & Discoloration

Staining and discoloration on the interior of your pool could mean that a replastering project could be on your list this fall.

The source of your staining or discoloring could be a few different things, but ultimately the interior of your pool is likely on its way out – meaning it should need attention before your next swimming season.

Cracks & Peeling

Another common sign that your pool interior is going to need attention, cracking and peeling means your pool interior is breaking down.

This is common for older pools, but it’s something not to be ignored as you head into fall.

Roughness On Interior Surfaces

This could go along with cracks and peeling, but if you notice any additional roughness developing in and around the interior of your pool, it may need some work this fall.

If All Of The Above

If your pool is getting up in years and you happen to be seeing signs of all of the above, then it’s likely a good idea to get the process started on a larger pool project – like a full renovation project.

As those symptoms get worse, your pool gets closer and closer to becoming unusable or potentially dangerous to use (especially with rough/sharp edges).

On the flip side, if your pool happens to only have a few or little of the above symptoms, it’s likely in good shape for another pool season.

Whatever shape your pool happens to be in, we hope you were able to use it to keep yourself cool during this scorching weather – and if you happen to notice some of the above issues, be sure to reach out to your trusted, local pool contractor this fall.
